With the building of the Cochiti Dam and Reservoir on the Pueblo de Cochiti, there arose a seepage problem within traditional farmlands. In September of 1994, with the cooperation of the Corps of Engineers, these lands were reclaimed with the installation of a sub-surface drainage system. Shortly thereafter the Pueblo de Cochiti instituted a farm enterprise plan for these lands. The farm enterprise plan included the establishment of a Pueblo-owned and operated farm enterprise. The Farm Enterprise was established in 1995, and is currently thriving. The farm enterprise offers high quality alfalfa at competitive prices. First cuts and production occurs usually in mid May, and continues with additional cuts into late September. With approximately 250 acres of agricultural lands dedicated to the Farm Enterprise, alfalfa production is plentiful. Though the quality and price typically make demand, at times the demand far exceeds production. Production: High quality Alfalfa Bales - Standard bale Lesser Quality Cow Bales - Standard bale Price: Prices vary throughout the growing season, and are set per bale. Prices are set at competitive rates with other alfalfa producers. Price reduction is available if the buyer loads bales off the field. Hours:Monday thru Friday: 8am – 5pm Weekend Sales available
